On January 29, 2025, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced a preliminary affirmative determination in its ongoing antidumping duty (AD) investigation into brake drums imported from China. Companies and other interested parties have until February 24, 2025, to submit case briefs, with rebuttal briefs due by March 3, 2025. The final determination is expected later in 2025. If Commerce upholds its preliminary findings, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) will then decide whether these unfair trade practices have caused or threaten to cause material harm to U.S. manufacturers. If both agencies confirm injury, the duties will become permanent.
