TBP Auto 16.5" x 7" Brake Drum: Heavy-Duty Features, Specs & Application

Product Overview

The TBP 054.1640 is TBP Auto’s 16.5″ × 7″ heavy-duty brake drum, built for Class 8 trucks and trailers running S-cam air brake systems.

It’s a direct replacement for the most common North American OEM drums. The outboard hub-piloted mount means it slides directly onto the wheel studs with no modifications or adapter hardware.

Quality and Compliance

Our 16.5″ × 7″ brake drum is built around the requirements that matter in real service.

It meets FMVSS 121, the U.S. federal standard for air brake performance on commercial vehicles, and is cast from SAE J431 Grade G3500 grey iron for optimal tensile strength, hardness, and heat dissipation.

From casting to final inspection, the full manufacturing process is carried out at TBP Auto’s ISO 9001:2015 certified brake drum factory in Vietnam.

Each drum goes through an advanced dynamic balancing process, so no external weights are attached and nothing can shift during service.

Before shipment, every production batch goes through our strict in-house tests, including CMM measurement of critical bore and bolt circle tolerances.
