BUV Students Visit TBP Auto for a Hands-On Factory Tour

Introduction

Organized in partnership with British University Vietnam and BUV Career Services, the field trip on June 10 gave students a chance to see how commercial vehicle brake drums are made in a real manufacturing environment. The group included both Vietnamese and international students, bringing different backgrounds, interests, and perspectives to the visit.

Bringing Classroom Learning into the Factory

BUV is one of Vietnam’s leading international universities and is recognized as the first university in Southeast Asia to receive university-wide accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

With that international academic background, many students arrived with a strong interest in how business, engineering, supply chains, and global trade connect in practice. The factory tour gave them a direct look at those connections – not through a case study, but through an active production line.

As Vietnam’s leading brake drum manufacturers, TBP Auto was glad to open our doors and show how a safety-critical automotive component moves through each stage of production.

From raw material preparation to finished product inspection, students followed the production journey step by step and had the opportunity to ask questions directly to our team on site.

Sharp Questions from an Engaged Group

One of the most memorable parts of the visit was the quality of the questions from the students.

Some came in with a clear understanding of auto parts and manufacturing concepts, while others were seeing this type of production environment for the first time. Throughout the tour, they asked about materials, brake drum applications, production challenges, quality control, and how Vietnamese manufacturers compete in the global market.

A few of the questions were technical enough to catch our team by surprise – in the best way. Their curiosity made the visit feel less like a one-way tour and more like a genuine exchange between students and industry professionals.

Building Stronger Links Between Education and Industry

Factory visits like this are valuable because they give students a clearer picture of what manufacturing really involves. They also help young people see that Vietnam’s industrial sector offers more than production jobs alone. It connects to engineering, logistics, quality management, international sales, sourcing, trade compliance, and long-term business development.

For TBP Auto and BUV, this visit also marks a meaningful step in building closer university-industry cooperation. As Vietnam continues to grow as a manufacturing and export base, partnerships like this can help students better understand the industries shaping the country’s future.

TBP Auto would like to send our warm thanks to British University Vietnam, BUV Career Services, and all participating students for joining the visit. We look forward to creating more practical learning opportunities together and welcoming more young talent into Vietnam’s manufacturing community.
